Why Tanglin Arts Studio Feels Like a Second Home for Your Child

Why Tanglin Arts Studio feels like a second home for your child

For us at Tanglin Arts Studio, dance evokes indescribable feelings unlike any other.

It is not just a form of expression but also a way to build self-esteem, confidence, and resilience. From ballet and tap to jazz and hip-hop, our teachers work hard to instill an everlasting love of dance in every student who walks through our doors.

Whether it’s appreciating music, developing creativity, building friendships, or learning mutual respect, dance enriches every aspect of life — no matter where you’re from, how old you are, or what your beliefs may be.

One of our primary goals is to give every student the chance to experience dance and its lifelong benefits.

An International Community

Tanglin Arts Studio is truly a melting pot of nationalities. Our instructors come from Australia, France, Belarus, the US, Germany, and Singapore, bringing their unique expertise and perspectives.

95% of our students are children from expatriate families. Many are new to dance, while others have been dancing for years. Most dance recreationally, and our goal is always to ensure their experience is personally fulfilling and joyful.

Certified, Experienced Teachers

All our teachers are certified dance instructors with university degrees in dance or dance education. They continue to expand their skills through advanced training — some are pursuing a Master of Education with the Royal Academy of Dance, while others are certified as Vocational Trainers and Assessors.

Our instructors are also trained in Pilates, Yoga, and Progressing Ballet Technique (PBT). This knowledge ensures that classes not only focus on dance technique but also on developing strong, healthy bodies that are less prone to injuries.

Health, Wellness, and Personal Growth

At Tanglin Arts Studio, we believe in more than just teaching choreography. We educate our students on the importance of:

  • Physical health: building strength, stamina, and alignment to prevent injuries.

  • Mental well-being: developing resilience, creativity, and emotional expression.

  • A balanced lifestyle: encouraging movement as a joyful part of everyday life.

By combining artistry with safe practices, we give children tools for both dance and life.

Structured Training and Exams

We follow the Australian Teachers of Dancing (ATOD) syllabus and conduct annual exams in May. This structured approach provides students with clear goals and opportunities to measure their progress.

Performance Opportunities

We place a strong emphasis on giving students opportunities to perform:

  • Annual End-of-Year Show (December): A full-scale theatre production where every student gets the chance to shine on stage.

  • Mid-Year Showcase (June): A smaller performance at the Hollandse Club, allowing parents and families to celebrate progress.

  • Open House (August): A welcoming event to kick off the new term and invite new families into our community.

Performances are milestones that build confidence, teamwork, and pride — both for the dancers and their families.

Our Passion and Promise

Seeing our students perform on stage and watching them grow year after year is our biggest motivation. At Tanglin Arts Studio, we are passionate about teaching children to:

LIVE 💛 LOVE 💛 CELEBRATE Dance.
