Being an expat family for almost 30 years, Katja Paus has lived across Asia, including India, Hong Kong, and Singapore. During these years, she chose to prioritize her family, putting her profession on hold so she could be fully present for them. When her family relocated from Hong Kong to Singapore 17 years ago, both of her daughters began dancing at Tanglin Arts Studio (TAS).
Katja first joined TAS as a parent in 2010. After about a year, when the studio’s founder decided to relocate to Australia, Katja was offered the opportunity to step in and support the studio by taking on the administration and business operations. Although she did not come from a dance or teaching background, her experience in hospitality and accounting proved invaluable in helping the studio grow.
When the founder later sought someone who shared the same values and vision to continue the legacy of Tanglin Arts Studio, Katja made the heartfelt decision to take over the studio. Her motivation came from a deep desire to preserve a safe, welcoming space where her children—and many others—could express themselves and grow through dance.
Today, as the owner of Tanglin Arts Studio, Katja remains committed to nurturing a warm, family-like environment where students not only develop strong dance foundations but also build friendships, confidence, and a genuine love for movement. 💜
